Are you planning air travel this holiday season?

It looks as though you may not need to brace for the worst.

Canada’s transport minister says he expects it will be a smoother holiday season at the country’s airports than what we had back in the summer.

Omar Alghabra explained on Sunday to CTV’s Question Period that the federal government is working with air travel stakeholders to make sure travellers won’t be dealing with flight cancellations and lost luggage.

“I’ve been asking airlines and airports, CATSA and Nav Canada to make sure that they have the proper level of staffing. I am being reassured regularly that staffing levels are where they need to be. I keep an eye on it regularly as I said, so I feel confident,” said Alghabra.

During the summer, line ups at airports, most notably Toronto’s Pearson Airport, were much longer than usual because of a surge in travel demand along with staffing issues.
