Randy Begg, co-founder and drummer of the 1970s Canadian band ”Wednesday,” has died at 71.
Friend and fellow band member Paul Andrew Smith says he suffered a heart attack December 20 in Belleville where he suddenly died.
Smith called Begg ”the glue that connected the band.”
Wednesday had a hit in 1974 with the cover of ”Last Kiss,” originally recorded by Wayne Cochran.
It reached 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 more than two decades before Pearl Jam’s version would score them a hit as well.
Wednesday also covered Mark Dinning’s ”Teen Angel” and Elton John’s ”Love You Baby.”
