PIONEERING CHICAGO THEATRE ARTIST HAS DIED AT 79

He was a pivotal figure in Chicago’s theater community and a two-time Tony Award winner.

Frank Galati won two Tonys in 1990 for best play and best director, for his adaptation and staging of John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath.”

His screenwriting credits include “The Accidental Tourist,” for which he was an Oscar nominee.

Actor, director and teacher Frank Galati has died at 79.

No cause of death was given.
