The British novelist and who wrote the very first episode of the hit 1970’s TV drama “UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS,” and who was nominated for a Booker Prize, has died

Over her career, Fay Weldon produced some 30 novels as well as many short stories and plays for TV, radio and the stage.

Much of her fiction explored issues surrounding women’s relationships with men, children, parents and each other.

Her 1978 novel, “Praxis,” was shortlisted for the Booker.  Her novel, “The Life and Loves of a She-Devil,” was turned into a U.S. movie called “The Devil Wears Prada.”

Fay Weldon has died in a nursing home in Northampton, England, at the age of 91.

No cause of death was released.
