Berlin airport has cancelled all flights after ground staff went on strike to press for higher pay.

The strike on Wednesday affects approximately 300 flights to and from Germany’s capital.

Labor union Verdi says its members are asking for a raise of 500 euros ($726 CDN) per month.

According to the German news agency dpa, employers have offered staff a one-time payment of 2,000 euros (2,905 CDN).

Last year, Germany experienced its highest annual inflation rate in more than 70 years.

Sharp increases in the cost of food and energy saw full-year inflation reach 7.9% in 2022.
