Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie has sent budget request letters to Federal Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and Ontario counterpart Peter Bethlenfalvy ahead of their governments’ budgets.
While she says city hall is thankful for what both levels of government have done to help during the pandemic, McKelvie says this will not meet Toronto’s needs with the COVID-19 ”hangover.”
”It is my sincere hope that in both the provincial and federal budgets this year we see both governments follow through on their commitments to support our city through the pandemic, to build housing, and to support newcomers, by committing more funding for Toronto, the country’s economic engine,” said the deputy mayor.
