With many countries on earth in a race to explore it, the European Space Agency says maybe it should have its own time zone.
The Agency says there needs to be some synchronicity in how we tell time on the moon, especially with dozens of lunar missions planned including ones to build bases and other habitats.
It’s not yet clear who should be responsible for establishing and maintaining “moon time” and if it is created, questions remains about whether it should it be tied to time on Earth, or function as its own entity.
Clocks on the moon tick slightly faster than clocks on Earth and that speed varies depending upon the the location on the lunar surface.
