It appears longtime Liberal MPP Mitzie Hunter is closer to announcing a bid for Toronto’s next mayor.

She told Jane Brown on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back, she’s considering this seriously.

“The nominations will open up April 3rd and at this time I am taking the good advice of those that are surrounding me, as well as listening to amazing feedback I am getting from my own constituents who are encouraging me to put my name in the run for mayor of Toronto,” Hunter explained.

Hunter was instrumental in orchestrating a change in the voting system for Ontario Liberal leader this past weekend at the party’s annual general meeting.

Prior to the AGM, Hunter announced she would not be running for the next leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.

Hunter has represented the provincial riding of Scarborough-Guildwood since 2013.

There are only two declared high profile candidates in the running so far; Urbanist Gil Penalosa and former Toronto City Councillor Rob Davis.

The Toronto mayoral byelection is June 26th.
