An original and uncirculated example of the first Canadian banknote to feature a portrait of the eventual Queen Elizabeth, has sold for many times its face value.
A $20.00 Bank of Canada bill from 1935 sold for $132,000 at Heritage Auctions’ World Paper Money Signature Auction in Dallas, Texas.
It had a serial number of 7.
According to the experts it was replaced in 1937 by notes featuring King George the 6th.
