The classical music community is mourning the passing of a Juno award winning composer who, for years, was the composer-in-residence at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
Jocelyn Morlock won the Juno for Classical Composition of the Year in 2018 for “My Name is Amanda Todd.”
It was an orchestral work dedicated to Todd, a vibrant 15-year-old from Port Coquitlam, BC who took her own life 2012 after suffering for years from cyber abuse, harassment and bullying at school.
Morlock’s death was confirmed by the Vancouver Symphony and the UBC School of Music, where she taught, although no cause was given.
