Ed Ames, the youngest member of the well-known 1950’s singing group the Ames Brothers, has died at the age of 95.

Ames, the final surviving member of the quartet of singing brothers, passed away on May 21 from Alzheimer’s.

Ames found fame as an actor in both musical theatre and television.

In the 1960’s adventure series Daniel Boone, which starred Fess Parker as the renowned frontiersman, Ames played the Oxford-educated Indigenous American named Mingo.

Ames was also the centre of a bit on The Tonight Show that, thanks to his uncanny aim with a hatchet, became one of the show’s most memorable surprise moments.
