You will definitely want to fill up your gas tank today after reading this news.
We’ve learned the cost of gas in both Ontario and Quebec will see a 14-cent a litre increase overnight into Thursday.
The heads up comes from Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, who says the price of regular will jump to $1.79 a litre.
“That’s a figure we haven’t seen since going back to about August the 2nd, 2022,” McTeague explains, “So these are very extraordinary events. We’re seeing these prices move up dramatically and as a result, we can expect inflation will be impacted by this.”
He says the increase is related to the higher cost of summer blended gasoline and the cheaper winter blend won’t return until the fall.
Gas already went up 3-cents a litre on April 1st, due to the increase in the carbon tax.
