We Canadians will learn more about ourselves and how we live, when new census information is released at 8:30 this morning.  The focus from Stats Can will be on families, households and marital status.  The census data will also reveal what percentage of Canadian zoomers are living alone.  The data will make it clear that in Canada “family” can mean almost any combination of individuals.

At its most basic level, StatsCan defines a family as a couple — with or without children, married or common-law — or a lone parent with at least one child in the same house.  In other words, it takes at least two people to make a family.  Beyond that, almost anything goes.
