Ryerson University will honour two outstanding Canadians with honorary degrees as part of this year-s fall convocation ceremonies next Thursday and Friday.
Irish-Canadian tenor and Broadway star Colm Wilkinson is one of the most celebrated performers of our time.
He performed in the Toronto production of The Phantom of the Opera for four and a half years, giving more than 16 hundred performances and earning nightly standing ovations.
He received the Dora Mavor Moore award for his portrayal of The Phantom in 1989-90.
Also receiving an honorary degree is Shawn Atleo – National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.
Among his achievments, Atleo is the first university chancellor of aboriginal heritage in British Columbia’s history.
