The threat of Hurricane Sandy is taking its toll on New York box offices.

Broadway theatre owners  canceled performances yesterday and today. Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of the Broadway League, says, “The safety and security of theatregoers and employees is everyone’s primary concern.”

Off-Broadway shows were also canceled last night.

Mondays are usually pretty quiet on Broadway. It’s the dark day for most theatres.

Carnegie Hall canceled two concerts scheduled for last night, and rescheduled a concert for tonight by Rent and Wicked star Idina Menzel. It will now take place next Sunday.
