Ontario’s Minister of Health and Long-Term Care has announced enhanced care for long-term care residents in the province. Debb Matthews says the money will be allocated over the next three years. She also announced that beginning next year, a programme in long term care homes called: Grow Your Own Nurse Practitioner will begin. That means facilities will be able to use their funding allocation to sponsor a registered nurse to obtain their nurse-practictioner education. Matthews made the announcement at Belmont House retirment home here in Toronto. 77-thousand people live in long term care homes in Ontario.
