For months, Rob Ford has been the butt of jokes on late-night TV shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Last night, Toronto’s mayor became a guest on Kimmel’s show.
Kimmel played clips of Ford’s less flattering escapades, and went through the controversies that have dogged the mayor, including his refusal to attend the Pride Parade, and the allegations that he made homophobic remarks in the infamous crack video.
Ford denied he’s homophobic. Kimmel responded, “Do you think if you had more gay you would not wear that tie?”
After challenging Ford his controversial episodes, Kimmel took a serious turn and asked if it wasn’t time that the mayor got professional help. Ford responded, “I wasn’t elected to be perfect. I was elected to fix the mess I inherited, and that’s exactly what I’ve done.”
Ford arrived back in Toronto early this moring. He maintains he was in Los Angeles to promote Toronto’s film industry. But he wasn’t accompanied by any experts from Toronto’s film commission. The film commissioner himself didn’t know anything about the trip. Neither did the Ontario Film Commission.
