More dramatic developments at The Minnesota Orchestra.

Eight members of the board have resigned – to protest the upcoming departure of its president Michael Henson – who says he’ll leave in August.

The resignations are part of the fallout from management’s 16-month lockout of the players.

That was lifted in January, when the musicians agreed to a new contract.

But after that, the players stood by their unanimous vote of no confidence in the orchestra president.

And renowned Maestro Osmo Vanska, the former music director, has taken up the cause – saying that Henson’s departure would be essential to the orchestra’s recovery and at least implying that it would be a pre-condition to his possible return to the orchestra.
