A longtime city employee and a lawyer have been selected to fill the vacancies in the wards of Trinity-Spadina and Etobicoke-Lakeshore.

City Council has appointed Ceta Ramkhalawansingh in Ward 20 after Adam Vaughan won the June 30 federal by-election.

After 29 years with the city, she retired in 2010 as manager of diversity management and community engagement.

Meanwhile, lawyer James Maloney will represent Ward 5.

Peter Milczyn held the seat until he was elected MPP in the June 12 provincial election.

Neither Ramkhalawansingh nor Maloney plan to run in the October municipal election.
