Mayor Rob Ford is continuing his war against Waterfront Toronto.

Ford called on CEO John Campbell to resign yesterday, pointing to a report that it cost $600,000 to build a washroom at the Cherry Beach sports field. Ford is also angry at costs incurred at Sugar Beach.

But Campbell says his agency has more oversight than any other organization, with scrutiny by three levels over government and regular audits.

As to the cost of the washroom, Campbell says the costs are partly due to contamination of the groundwater at the site. He says digging a hole for the washroom’s septic tank cost $66,000 because the water table is contaminated.

Campbell says Ford has a seat on the board of Waterfront Toronto, but has never attended a meeting. His place on the board has now been filled by Councillor Jaye Robinson.
