Mayor Rob Ford denies he ever had a seat on the board of Waterfront Toronto, despite solid evidence to the contrary.

Ford has been on the attack against the agency in charge of developing Toronto’s waterfront over the cost of improvements to Sugar Beach and the Cherry Beach sports field.

Minutes from City Council show that Ford was named a member of the Board of Waterfront Toronto on December 7th, 2010, soon after he took office. That means he was responsible for oversight of the agency’s expenses, including the ones he has been criticizing.

Ford maintains he was never on the board, and did not attend a single meeting.

Mayoral candidate John Tory calls it another example of Ford “ducking his responsibilities.” Tory says, “Not only did he not speak up when he had the chance, he didn’t even show up.”
