When you go grocery shopping, do you head to the organic food section of the store or avoid it?

David Bratton is co-producer of an original five part series called Organic Panic on our sister television station, The Brand New One.

He told The New AM 740’s Goldhawk Fights Back, one of the biggest problems with organic food is inspection.  “You have the most stringent standards around, but if there aren’t feet on the ground, there aren’t inspectors looking at everything, and we’ve had that experience recently in the last year, finding that lots and lots of food that’s been sold in Canada as organic hasn’t been inspected.  It’s contaminated, things like that.  So yes, inspection and those issues.  It’s a really really big deal,” Bratton explained.

Catch Organic Panic this Saturday and Sunday at 5pm and again at 9pm on the Brand New One, channel 265 on Rogers and 606 on Bell.
