The Wynne Liberals are looking for your thoughts on its proposal to create a made-in-Ontario pension plan.
The government’s released a consultation paper on ”key design questions” such as a minimum income threshold, the $3,500 used by the CPP is suggested, and on exactly who would be eligible.
The Liberals say about two-thirds of workers do not have a workplace pension, so they’d be required to join the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan.
The government’s proposing to phase-in mandatory 1.9% contributions from employers and employees over two years, starting with bigger companies in 2017, before moving on to smaller businesses.
