Thousands of subway commuters in Toronto were stranded for more than an hour during the morning rush as the city’s subway service shut down due to communication problems.
The subway system shut down around 6:30 this morning and resumed at about 7:45.
TTC Head Andy Byford says his crews are analysing the situation to see what caused the main communication server to go down, followed by the back-up server.
Mayor John tory says the problems at the TTC reflect a lack of infrastructure investment in recent years.
The TTC was not able to put shuttle buses into service to cover the subway problems because the bus system simply does not have the capacity to replace the entire subway system.
