Despite the province-wide work to rule campaign by elementary teachers in Ontario, some students will still receive a report card with subject-specific letter grades. Students in the Niagara Region will see full report cards after principals and support staff entered the information manually.

Teachers across the province have submitted letter grades for their students but as part of their work to rule campaign, they’ve refused to enter the marks into the computer system.  Toronto, York and Peel Region boards have said they can’t follow Niagara’s example and issue report cards with letter grades because it’s just too much work for the number of staff.

However, Elementary Teachers’ Federation President Sam Hammond is crying foul. He says the larger boards such as Toronto have more students, but they have proportionately the same number of support staff.

Boards in the Windsor, Barrie and Haliburton -Muskoka Regions are also issuing full report cards.
