Celebrated Canadian author Lawrence Hill’s fourth novel, “The Illegal,” hasn’t come out yet – but it’s already destined for the big screen.
Conquering Lion Pictures has acquired the film rights to the book – due to hit the shelves on September 8th.
The same production company adapted Hill’s award-winning miniseries “The Book of Negroes.”
Hill is writing the screenplay for “The Illegal” – published by HarperCollins.
The story follows a young marathon runner as he flees his native “Zantoro land” and settles in an underground community of undocumented refugees in “Freedom State.”
