Canada’s major airline will no longer transport big-game hunting trophies after the recent killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe by a Minnesota dentist.
Air Canada says that includes lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and water buffaloes.
An airline spokesperson says such shipments have been rare in the past since Air Canada does not fly to South Africa, where such hunting is big business.
Peter Fitzpatrick says the airline already complies with existing regulations on transporting endangered wildlife.
At least half a dozen other airlines have also banned the transportation of big-game trophies the past couple weeks, including Air France, Delta Air Lines and Qantas.
