Conservative Leader Stephen Harper arrived in the Greater Toronto Area on the holiday Monday with a more pointed attack on his political rivals. The prime minister charged that NDP Leader Tom Mulcair’s ideology and Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau’s inexperience would put Canada’s economy and security at risk.
They were the same themes he used when launching his federal re-election campaign on Sunday, but a day later Harper stepped up his criticism of the Liberals and New Democrats. During a campaign stop in Ajax last night, he said, “Canadians face a stark choice” in the October 19th vote. He called it “a choice with profound implications for our economy, for our families and for our security.”
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau visited Stephen Harper’s political home turf of Calgary with a promise to return often.
“I want to lead Canada, all of Canada, not just parts of Canada, Trudeau said to applause, “I’m not going to write off certain parts of the country just because we had a past tough past 10 years, or tough past 100 years, because that’s not leadership.”
Trudeau will be in Mississauga today, while Stephen Harper visits the Toronto riding of Eglinton-Lawrence where Finance Minister Joe Oliver is seeking re-election. NDP Leader Tom Mulcair is in Montreal for an event this morning, after taking the day off from campaigning yesterday.
