Today is a day of strategizing and practicing for tomorrow night’s first leaders debate for the main federal leaders.  NDP Leader Tom Mulcair has been waging mock debates, squaring off against fake opponents to prepare for the debate.

On the campaign trail in Montreal yesterday, Mulcair says the opposition New Democrats have been able to stand up to the Conservatives and “win”  on the big issues.

“The NDP was successful in getting rid of pay to pay bank fees on phone and internet bills,” Mulcair proclaimed, “the NDP also forced the Conservatives to abolish the unfair tax on feminine hygiene products.  We led the charge to protect Canada’s lakes and rivers…and passed a motion that led to the federal ban on harmful plastic microbeads in cosmetic products.”

Mulcair and Liberal leader Justin Trudeau are both novices in leaders’ debates. They’ll be up against the experienced Conservative leader, Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He’s participated in at least two debates in every election going back to 2004.  Green Party Leader Elizabeth May is also taking part in tomorrow night’s debate hosted by Maclean’s magazine.
