Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards calls the cellphone video of Tuesday’s fatal police shooting of a black man ”disturbing to say the least”.
He made the remark during a news conference Wednesday when he announced the U.S. Justice Department would be investigating the shooting of 37-year-old Alton Sterling.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Baton Rouge, the FBI and state police will also be involved.
Sterling was killed outside a convenience store where he was selling CDs.
Police say they were called to the store after an anonymous caller said Sterling had threatened someone with a gun.
Authorities have not released the race of the two officers, who have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard department policy.
