John McMartin, a versatile, gentlemanly Tony Award-nominated actor who starred on Broadway and TV, has died of cancer at the age of 86.

McMartin was nominated for five Tonys among them; “Sweet Charity” in 1966, “Don Juan” in 1973,  “Showboat” in 1995 and “High Society” in 1998.
He also had numerous TV and film roles appearing with Angela Landbury on “Murder, She Wrote”, which airs on our sister station Vison TV.
McMartin remained active into his 80s, last starring on Broadway in 2014’s “All the Way”, the play about Lyndon Johnson.
