Passengers heading to the United Stats will find clearing American Customs at Toronto’s Pearson Airport a little faster today.
Pearson’s renovated U.S. pre-clearance facility is reopening today with an eye to improving passenger flow.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority has been working with US Customs, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority and the air carriers for the past two year to redevelop the “security in advance” process that supports pre-clearance to the states. It’s hoped the process will allow 95% of all passengers to use automated passport control kiosks instead of queuing up for U.S. border protection agents.
Pearson is the fourth largest air entry point into the US with close to 6 million passengers flying into the states yearly.
