At least eight are dead after a shooting inside a shopping centre in the German city of Munich around the dinner hour Friday.
Police are also saying an ”unknown number” are injured.
A ninth body has been located but police have yet to say if it may be that of one of the shooters.
It happened at a fast food restaurant inside the mall near the Olympic stadium, which was also not far from where the Palestinian group Black September took 11 Israeli athletes hostage, eventually killing them during the 1972 Olympics.
All public transportation lines have been shut down while officers search for those responsible.
Police are urging residents to stay indoors and are using the term ”suspected terrorism” in describing the attack.
According to a police spokesperson, ”We believe we are dealing with a shooting rampage.”
It’s believed there was more than one shooter.
Witnesses reported seeing three armed individuals.
