MISSING AND MURDERED INDIGENOUS WOMEN COMMISSION BEGINS WORK

The Trudeau government is about to make good on a key promise to the missing and murdered indigenous women in Canada.
After working out the design and scope, the work begins today on the long-awaited commission that is to investigate.
The government will hand over the reins of the inquiry to five commissioners in a special ceremony at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau.
Indigenous Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett, Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould and Status of Women Minister Patty Hajdu will be on hand for the ceremony which is expected to feature a number of indigenous traditions
The federal government has earmarked $40-million for the inquiry.
