San Francisco is showing its heart to the renowned Zoomer singer, who still sings how he left his there.

In recognition of Tony Bennett’s recent 90th birthday, the city by the bay has erected a two-and-a-half metre bronze sculpture of his likeness in front of the Fairmont Hotel atop San Francisco’s Nob Hill.

He performed ”I Left My Heart in San Francisco” for the few hundred gathered outside the hotel, where he first sang it in 1961.

Fairmont’s general manager calls Bennett ”the godfather of the city.  He has always been there in times of need and always been there as a good friend.  He’s been absolutely wonderful to the city.”

Bennett will also perform the song this evening at AT&T Park for Giants baseball fans.

He’ll be in these parts this fall, performing at Casino Rama Resort October 7.
