A work-to-rule campaign by members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has been put on hold until midnight tonight, as negotiators with CUPW and Canada Post try to come to an agreement.
The first phase of a labour disruption would be a rolling ban on any overtime hours for the workers.
The union served 72 hour strike notice Thursday, accusing the crown corporation of forcing a labour disruption by refusing to bargain in good faith.
But a federal mediator yesterday requested that talks continue for another 24 hours, which both sides agreed to.
Employment Minister MaryAnn Mihychuk welcomed the development, calling it an “encouraging sign of ongoing progress.”
