WORLD'S OLDEST PERSON DIES AT 117

Violet Brown, known affectionately as “Aunt V” has passed away in a Jamaican Hospital at the age of 117 years 189 days.
 

 

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness expressed his condolences in a Facebook post, calling Brown “an inspiring woman.” She was predeceased by a son earlier this year.  He died at the age of 97.
With Brown’s passing, the Gerontology Research Group lists Japan’s Nabi Tajima of Japan as the world’s oldest living person. She was born on August 4, 1900.
