Police say Zeljna Kosovac was responsible for dropping him off at a care facility.
Investigators would not say how long the four-year-old was alone in the car on a day the temperature reached in the mid-20s C and the humidex was in the low-30s.
Kosovac is free on $5,000 bail and conditions include turning over her passport and having no contact with anyone under the age of 14.
