More proof all that glitters isn’t gold.
Barrie police are warning the public about an online offer that’s not worth its weight in gold.
Officers have received complaints of fake gold bars being sold online through websites such as Kijiji.
(CBC News)
Investigators say they appear real and are packed professionally and bear stamps resembling the Perth Mint or the Royal Canadian Mint.
However, testing has shown they’re nothing but copper plated with gold.
While these counterfeits are being offered in various weights and range from $300 to $1,200, police say their actual worth is between $0.25 and $2.
