The winds will see tonight’s low of -22 C feel more like -30 C, possibly breaking the 57-year-old record for December 27 – 18.9 C.
It’s possible wind chill values will be near minus 30 in some areas again Thursday night.
Environment Canada says this weather puts everyone at risk, but more so young children, older adults, those with chronic illnesses, and people working or exercising outdoors.
The weather statement recommends dressing warmly, in layers with the outer layer being wind resistant.
You’re reminded frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin.
The deep freeze is expected to stretch into next week.
