As 2017 draws to a close, Toronto Mayor John Tory is preparing to fight next year’s municipal election on his record.
Tory says he drove the King Street Pilot Project forward and managed to wrestle billions of dollars from the federal and provincial governments including $170 million from Queen’s Park to fund new transit.  He adds, any challenger will have to campaign on turning back the hands of time.

So far Tory has just one declared challenger; former Toronto City Councillor Doug Ford.

Mayor Tory says the biggest challenge for the city moving forward will be addressing the growing wealth gap in the city and he says that will require more effective transit and more affordable housing.
You can listen to Libby Znaimer’s year-end conversation with Mayor Tory on “Best of Fight Back 2017 with Jane Brown” on New Year’s Day at noon on our sister station, Zoomer Radio – AM 740 and 96.7FM in downtown Toronto.
