City council’s voted 35-3 to study the possibility of opening a museum about Toronto’s history inside Old City Hall when the courts move out.

That lease will be up in a few years.
Nearly half of the space of Old City Hall is expected to be rented one day.
One-quarter of the building, completed in 1899, could be devoted to a museum to showcase the approximately 150,000 historical pieces in the city’s collection.
Final staff recommendations about how to proceed are expected by mid-2019.
