The husband of the Queen of Denmark has died after suffering a lung infection.

Prince Henrik, who was born in France, was famous for his public unhappiness at never being named king.  Because of that, he announced last year he did not want to be buried next to his wife, ending an almost 500-year Danish tradition.

Funeral plans for the 83-year old consort are pending.
