Dr. Eric Hoskins is resigning immediately as Ontario health minister and MPP for the Toronto riding of St. Paul’s.

He becomes the fourth cabinet minister to announce he won’t be seeking re-election this June.
In making the announcement Monday afternoon, Hoskins said,”In leaving Queen’s Park, I am determined to continue building better healthcare for all Canadians.  That path and journey will become clearer in the days ahead.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will reportedly appoint Hoskins tomorrow to lead a federal commission looking at a national pharmacare program.
Hoskins, an officer of the Order of Canada, was first elected MPP in 2009.
He ran for the provincial Liberal leadership in 2013.
Premier Kathleen Wynne first appointed him economic development minister, then named him health miniister after the 2014 election.
