A 34-year-old woman, convicted of terror charges for attack employees at a Canadian Tire store in Scarborough, has been given a seven-year prison sentence after the judge found her mental illness was a main reason for her crimes.

Rehab Dughmosh was found guilty of four charges for attacking the store workers with a golf club and a butcher’s knife while draped in an ISIS banner in June 2017 and for attempting to travel to Syria to joing the terrorist group the year before.
Justice Maureen Forestell says the woman’s mental illness, likely schizophrenia, played a key role and ”rendered her vulnerable to extremist beliefs.”
With credit for time served in pre-trial custody, Dughmosh has about 41/2 years left on her sentence.
