With the federal election just a little over 3 months away, hostile foreign actors are reportedly getting ready to meddle in the October 21st vote but there are no direct threats as yet.
That according to senior government officials whose job it is to alert Canadians to any serious attempts to interfere.
Earlier this year, the government announced it would set up a team of five bureaucrats to sound the alarm if it spots anything unusual.
Should the panel find there is a substantial threat to a free and fair election, it would tell the prime minister, political party officials and Elections Canada, and then a public announcement would be made.
Canadians would then be told what is known about the incident, and any steps they should take to protect themselves.
