A dip in the cool water of Lake Ontario might be refreshing Friday and Saturday during extreme heat and humidity, but most of Toronto’s beaches have been deemed unsafe for swimming.

Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health has issued a warning and recommends people NOT enter 7 out of 11 of Toronto’s beaches because of high levels of E.coli bacteria.

The beaches that are unsafe include: Marie Curtis Park East Beach, Sunnyside Beach, Hanlan’s Point Beach, Gibraltar Point Beach, Centre Island Beach, Ward’s Island Beach and Cherry Beach.

Woodbine Beaches, Kew Balmy Beach, Rouge Beach and Bluffer’s Beach Park are the only locations which are safe to swim.

There’s more information on the safety of Toronto’s beaches here.
