Former interim OPP commissioner Brad Blair has filed a 15-million-dollar lawsuit for wrongful dismissal and is calling for a public inquiry into provincial appointments under Doug Ford.

”I believe at the time of coming forward that the OPP commissioner’s process was the entire iceberg, in terms of cronyism.  But as the months passed and the numerous examples of further cronyism were identified it became evident that the commissioner’s process was the tip of the iceberg,” says Blair.
The premier’s office is not commenting as it’s before the courts.
The dispute between the two grew out of the government’s move last year to name Toronto police Superintendent Ron Taverner as the new commissioner.
Blair, who was in the running, appealed to the Ontario ombudsman to investigate what he called ”questions of political interference” in the appointment of the long-time Ford family friend.
The integrity commissioner cleared Ford of allegedly interfering in Taverner’s appointment.
Blair was fired in March, within days of Taverner bowing out over the controversy.
