LIBERALS LATEST ELECTION PROMISES FOR OLDER CANADIANS

Justin Trudeau vows a re-elected Liberal government would hike Old Age Security by 10% once a senior turns 75 and boost the Canada Pension Plan survivor’s benefit for widows and widowers over the age of 65. 
Currently, a surviving spouse over 65 receives 60% of the deceased spouse’s pension and that would rise to 75%.
While the Liberals and other parties have been targeting young families so far in the federal election campaign, it’s older Canadians who show up in large numbers on election day.
In fact, 90% of CARP members vote in elections.
The Conservatives say they can find $1.5-billion in savings each year, by eliminating some of the federal funding received by businesses.
Leader Andrew Scheer says the money can be found by ending ”wasteful” business subsidies … as part of a wide-ranging review of programs that benefit corporate executives, foreign companies and others.
Jagmeet Singh promises the NDP would extend full public dental coverage to households making less than $70,000 -a-year … and partial coverage for those with incomes between $70,000 and $90,000.
