Alexis Gauthier just cannot understand how his geologist father can still be behind bars in the United Arab Emirates.
”We seem to have the proof now that someone is trying to keep him there,” said Alexis from Quebec City.

A three-judge panel in Dubai unanimously found Andre Gauthier not guilty on 11 charges fraud charges, but, his son says apparently his lawyer did not appeal the remaining 62 charges within the proper time period and that his father will remain in prison indefinitely.
The Gauthier family says he’s a whistleblower, who was charged with committing the fraud he uncovered at gold trading company, Gold AE.
Alexis says his father has spent nearly $2-million in court fees since 2015 and that the family does not want to give another penny to the ”corrupt Dubai justice system.”
He’s also calling for a meeting with Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne.
A spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada says Ottawa’s aware of the court ruling and will continue raising the case at all levels of the Emirati government.
